About this deal

Suspension seatposts are available with anything from 20 to 90mm of travel. So, how much travel is best for you? Buying a new frame or bicycle is expensive though. It's actually possible to add more comfort to your current bike, simply by upgrading the seatpost to one that is designed to offer more comfort. There are two main ways to make a more-comfortable seatposts and the posts her are almost evenly divided between them. Six use the inherent flex available in carbon fibre, five use springs to provide a cushioned ride for your bum.

In the end, I can say that 90% of the time I did not even feel the suspension doing its job (although it definitely was moving when I was looking at it). There was also no bounciness when pedaling hard. On the rough trail, the spring seatposts are, by a large margin, the most effective at mitigating vibrations (17-24% improvement when compared to a carbon seatpost). Another mechanical design, the parallelogram seatpost, is undergoing a bit of a revival and we've included some here degree in 80, 90, 100, 110, and 120mm lengths (in both standard 1 1/8" steerer and oversized 1 1/4" steerer)

Another option is the Canyon S15 VCLS 2.0 CF seatpost. The post is split into two sections which pivot at the top, giving vertical compliance, and it works very well indeed. It came on the Grail CF SL 8.0 SL that I tested, and the added comfort was very noticeable. I used to laugh at people with suspension seatposts. Like a couple of commenters here, I felt it was an issue of proper seat adjustment and tire pressure. As a KOM-chasing, overly competitive maniac that frequently destroys equipment, I felt I was NOT the use case for these items. The CF Allroad Pro feels less like competing suspension seatposts offered by Redshift and Cane Creek and more like you’re running a higher-volume rear tyre. Less chatter and vibration makes its way from the road to the rider, with minimal movement to distract you from the task at hand. Functionally, the exposed ends of the shafts on the Pro post are essentially the same as the covered ends on the regular seatpost. The plastic endcapson the regular post are aesthetic covers – they don’t provide much (if any) sealing against water intrusion, and the inboard sides of the bushings are uncovered in both the regular and Pro versions. Our internal ride-testing and customer service logs have shown no discernible difference in bushing wear between the two designs.” OK, so then who’s it for?

Alternate method: Use a fabric or paper measuring tape (or print one at https://printable-ruler.net/ ) and measure the circumference of the steerer tube. You will need to remove the compression cap and loosen the two pinch bolts to get access to your steerer tube so be sure you are comfortable in doing so and then reassembling properly.
